[CWCLIP] Crossword Clipper for Windows (PC Help-Line ASP; $50) is a crossword puzzle layout/publishing tool for puzzles created with the DOS program Crossword Creator. This program is not an editor, but a customizable viewer with a WYSIWYG display that lets you re-size the grid, select fonts, and more. The 25 puzzles included can be solved on screen or printed. [KBS_XWRD] KBS: Crosswords for Windows (KBS Systems; $25) is a crossword puzzle game for Windows. Ten puzzles are included with three different skill levels available for each one. You can either drag a letter to it's intended spot, or you may click on a clue and type in the answer. Other features include a cheat mode that instantly fills in a word, the ability to save partially solved puzzles, a puzzle solve option, and more. You can also replace the Hangman with the Dentist, Taxman or Bridge Buster. VBRUN100.DLL is required. [HANGEM] Hangem 1.0 (Jarrett, Eric; $5) is a Windows version of the well-known word-guessing game. One or two players can play, and a game can be won with as few as 2 or as many as 30 correctly guessed words. Two-player games have the option of entering your own words for your opponent to guess. [HANGMNW] Hangman for Windows 1.02 (Pocket-Sized Software; $5) is a simple, but well done adaptation of the popular word guessing game. Although there are none of the usual hangman type graphics, the program does have a word list with over 14,000 words, and you can easily add your own words with any text editor. [SNW10A] Spin'n Win 1.0a (Dan Puraty; $12) is a unique animated version of Wheel of Fortune for Windows 3.1. Up to three players take turns spinning for dollar amounts and trying to guess letters to solve a phrase. VBRUN100 is required. -----Word Scramble & Word Search [ANAGRAM] The Anagram Program 1.01 (Tim Hill; $10) creates anagrams from phrases you type in. Clipboard support, 40,000+ word dictionary, and more. [BOG] Bog 1.06 (Pocket-Sized Software; $10) is an excellent adaptation of Boggle for Windows. Letters are displayed on a 4x4 grid, and you must create as many words as you can using adjacent letters on the grid. A dictionary with over 3000 legal words is utilized, but you can also add your own words to the list. Your opponent in this game is the computer, so don't feel too badly if you get severely beaten the first few times you play. WIN31 is required. [BOGLE] Bogle (Simon Brault; $10-$15) is a Windows version of the word game Boggle. [DEQUOT] DeQuoter 1.0 (Shadoware; $12) is a fantastic game that challenges you to decipher famous quotations. When one of the 200 quotes is displayed, you have five minutes to move all the letters into the correct spaces. Hints can be given at a cost of 30 seconds each. The digitized sound and music are very well done, and the 256-color animations are equally impressive. Other features include a high score list, and bonus time when your score reaches 1000. Requires Windows 3.1. A sound card is optional, but highly recommended. [QUOTEP] Quotation Puzzle 1.01 (Pocket-Sized Software; $5) unscramble letter cubes to form famous quotes. [SCRAMBLE] Scramble (Mansfield, Richard; $14) helps solve the popular JUMBLE word game published in most U.S. newspapers. You simply type in a group of five or six letters and it produces a list of every possible combination of those letters, along with a shorter list of combinations most likely to be real words. Also included is an interesting two-player word game. Each player enters three 5 or 6-letter words which the program scrambles. Players then work against the clock to solve the words. Several scoring options are available. Requires VBRUN200. [SCRAMBL1, SCRAMBL2, SCRAMBL3] The Scrambler 1.0 (DunsonWare; $7) is a word-scramble game. Difficulty ranges from beginner to advanced, so this game is suitable for both children and adults. To further increase the challenge you can also set time limits. Other features include a cheat mode that changes the letters to green when you have them in the correct order, digitized sound support for systems with sound cards, high score table, and more. [WRDSRCH] Word Search for Windows 1.5 (Stern, Steven D.; $0) makes scrambled word puzzles from a set of words you enter. You can set the number of rows and columns between 5 and 15, build the puzzle with all capitals or all lowercase letters, and specify printer fonts for the puzzle and word list. VBRUN is required. [WF] WordFind 1.0 (Esemplare, Steven T.; $5-$10) is a Windows implementation of the classic wordfind puzzles. You use the mouse to draw a circle around a word, and words are automatically removed from the list when you locate them. Five puzzles are provided, including Christmas, Casino Lingo, Outer Space, Music, and MacGyver. An on-screen timer displays the elapsed time. [WRDSTOK] Wordstalk 1.1 (Mallard Software; $15) is a challenging Windows version of the word game Boggle. You are given a 4x4 grid of letters, and must create as many words as possible in two minutes using only adjacent letters. Your computer opponent also creates a list of words, and at the end of the round the lists are compared. Any duplicate words are thrown out, and longer words receive a higher score. -----Other [CIPHERWN] Cipher for Windows (Anderson, Nels ASP; $17-$26) is a cryptogram-quotes game. Several puzzles are included and you can easily create more. Features include on-line help, hints, save/restore, a hall of fame, and much more. [CIPHRBT] Cipher 1.2 (Trupp, Brad; $0) is a decryption game. A cheat mode will show you the location of one letter at a time. [JOTTO] Jotto for Windows 2.0 (Keller, C.M.; $5) is a word-guessing game you play against the computer. After selecting a word you take turns guessing the word and each opponent must tell how many letters are correct. [KBSTRIV] KBS: Trivia Challenge 1.05 (KBS Systems; $25) is a trivia game with over 200 questions on topics ranging from animals to religion to sports and more. VBRUN is required.
